Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you running for school board?

I am running to ensure that every family has a voice, every teacher has support, and every student has access to a thriving neighborhood school.

What experience do you bring to the school board?

With experience in PTA leadership, teaching, and the recent school closure and program equity studies, I understand the importance of listening, transparency, and informed decision-making. I bring both a parent’s perspective and a collaborative mindset.

What are your top priorities if elected?

My campaign focuses on three main areas:

  • Transparent communication and community involvement

  • Supporting teachers and classrooms

  • Strengthening neighborhood schools

How will you involve the community in decision-making?

I plan to hold regular listening sessions, improve communication from the district, and ensure that board decisions are made with public input and transparency.

How will you support teachers and staff?

I will advocate for competitive pay, access to high-quality classroom resources, smaller class sizes, and professional development opportunities.

How will you improve equity across the district?

I will support policies that allocate resources based on need, promote inclusive practices, and work to ensure every student—regardless of zip code—has access to opportunity.

What is your position on school closures or consolidations?

I believe these decisions must be data-informed, community-driven, and student-centered—with full transparency throughout the process.

How do you plan to address budget challenges?

I will push for clear, transparent budgeting and advocate for funding that prioritizes classrooms and student services. I support strategic partnerships to bring in additional resources.

Is our area underfunded or too small to sustain a strong school district after the split?

No—despite fears that have been shared, the reality is that our community is strong, stable, and well-positioned for continued success. We have:

  • A steady student population that mirrors the current size of the proposed “west” district.

  • A well-educated and civically engaged community that values public education.

  • A diverse range of educational programs already in place—both public and private—reflecting our commitment to learning.

  • A solid local tax base and vibrant business sector that contributes to financial stability.

I believe we should move forward based on facts and community strengths—not fear. I will continue to advocate for transparency, equitable funding, and policies that reflect the real assets of our schools and neighborhoods.

What does "Seat 1" mean?

Our new district boundaries have been split into 7 areas that will be represented by a board member living in that specific zone. I am running for Seat 1 which includes the very northern tip of our district roughly 200 S in Pleasant grove and State Street upwards.

When will the new school board members start?

Primary elections for the new school board will be held August 12. Those who continue forward will be elected in November of 2025 and take office in January 2026.

When will the new district officially take over?

The new district will begin independently operating July 2027.

What will the our new district be named?

As of right now you will see "South School District" and "Timpanogos School District" as place holder names. A name will be finalized in the near future (exact date unknown).

Where can I find more information about what is going on with the split?

The interum committee has a website they strive to keep current. https://www.timpanogossd.org/

Are your kids currently attending public schools?

Yes! I am continually impressed by the caliber of teachers and educated parents in our community. Having them as part of my "village" has been a strong support in our lives.
